Where Caplin Xaqua fits in a bank's infrastructureCaplin Xaqua is a single dealer platform that enables banks to deliver multi-product trading to client desktops over the Internet. This is the first fully-functional product in this space.

Before Caplin Xaqua banks had to build most of the technology in their single-dealer platforms themselves, usually based on generic infrastructure technology such as a streaming web server. Now banks can focus their scarce development resources on building their unique added-value into their single-dealer offering rather than spend large amounts building supporting infrastructure

Compared to implementations that are developed from scratch Caplin Xaqua offers very rapid time to market, low cost, and low risk:It provides a comprehensive set of APIs to support connection to banks' internal systems via C, C++, Java™, and .NET, and to client applications implemented in Ajax, Adobe Flex™, Microsoft Silverlight™, Java, and .NET.

Nomura, the preeminent Asian-based investment bank, is already live with Caplin Xaqua, which it has deployed to launch its FX trading workstation – following the acquisition of Lehman Brothers’ operations in Asia and its investment banking and equities businesses in EMEA.

Abid Zaidi, Nomura’s Global Head of Fixed Income E-commerce IT, said, “Caplin Xaqua has enabled us to achieve high performance, low latency trading over the internet. We are now in a position to reach more clients and provide them with a direct and significantly more sophisticated trading experience. Additionally, the platform’s design means that it can be easily extended to incorporate new asset classes or portals – this flexibility is much needed in today’s rapidly changing trading environment.”
